The acclaimed European blues artist returns for an intimate UK tour
Vienna-based blues and roots artist Hans Theessink returns to the UK in October 2026 for a series of intimate solo concerts across England and Scotland.
With more than five decades on the road, over 8,000 live performances and more than 30 albums, Theessink has built an extraordinary international career dedicated to blues, roots, folk and gospel.His unmistakable combination of deep baritone vocals, fingerpicking and slide guitar has earned him a devoted following around the world. Bo Diddley famously described him as “one helluva guitar player.”
Two Hans Theessink songs recorded by Bill Wyman
Theessink's songwriting has also attracted the attention of some of the most respected names in blues and rock. On his 2024 solo album Drive My Car, former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman recorded two Hans Theessink compositions – “Storm Warning” and “Wings.” Wyman specifically singled out Theessink's music, saying: “I find his stuff really inspiring; he brings something new to the blues.” The two Hans Theessink compositions appear alongside songs by Bob Dylan, Taj Mahal, John Prine and Chuck E. Weiss on Wyman's album.
Throughout his career, Theessink has shared music and stages with artists including Ry Cooder, Dolly Parton, Arlo Guthrie, Donovan, Richard Thompson, The Blind Boys of Alabama, The Dubliners and Terry Evans and many more..
Yet it is in the intimate setting of a solo performance that Hans Theessink's music truly comes alive.His concerts combine masterful acoustic guitar playing with a warm, sonorous voice and the stories behind a lifetime spent travelling the world with the blues.
In 2018, Hans Theessink was inducted into the Dutch Blues Hall of Fame, recognising his longstanding contribution to the blues and roots music tradition.
